1970 Doctor Who Companion Caroline John Passes Away

Doctor Who companion Caroline John, who played Liz Shaw in the BBC series, dies aged 72.
We are sad to report that Caroline John, who played Doctor Who companion Liz Shaw in 1970, has passed away, aged 72.

John's character was the first to star with third Doctor Jon Pertwee, a rare companion who served as a scientist and intellectual equal to the main character, and appeared in four adventures in 1970. She since reprised the role of Liz Shaw in 1983's The Three Doctors and various Big Finish audio plays. Her most recent role was in the hit romantic comedy Love Actually.

She was married to actor Geoffrey Beevers, who also appeared in Doctor Who in 1981. Condolences to all who knew her from us here at The Digital Fix, and the many viewers who enjoyed her work.
