Benedict Cumberbatch to appear in The Simpsons

Benedict Cumberbatch, known for his portrayal as the sleuth Sherlock Holmes in the BBC Series, has landed a part in popular US cartoon, The Simpsons. His role will be a cameo voiceover.

He revealed that he landed the role accidentally when he had a meeting in the same place where The Simpsons is recorded. He told InStyle Magazine:

"I heard there was a part going in an episode. I said, 'I hate to muscle in here guys but could I record it?' Next thing, I'm standing in a room with all those famous voices; Bart, Marge, Homer, Lisa."

He joins a long list of British stars to feature in the iconic cartoon including Ricky Gervais, Simon Cowell, Sting, Sir Ian McKellen...and Tony Blair.

The Sherlock actor will next appear in a BBC/HBO co-production set in World War One called Parade's End as Christopher Tietjens. He is also making his mark in America by starring in JJ Adrams Star Trek sequel.
