Eve Myles to return to BBC One Drama in ‘Frankie’

Torchwood star Eve Myles returns to BBC One drama with Frankie.
Frankie is a modern six-parter which follows the life and work of a dedicated district nurse whose patients matter more to her than her personal life. In this funny and redemptive series, we are invited into the challenging yet life-affirming world of the district nurse.

Myles (Torchwood, Baker Boys) is to play a ‘heroine for the modern age’ in Frankie Maddox, who looks life and death in the eye with only one thing on her mind: making a difference without becoming a busybody. The series follows Frankie and her team as they visit their patients at home, day in and day out, fighting frustration, infuriation, and even boredom to help those in need.

Eve Myles says: “This is an incredible leading part for a female. It’s tremendous pressure but also tremendously exciting. I can’t wait to step into Frankie’s shoes, [she] is an infectious character: electric, quirky, [and] wonderful at her job.”

Additional cast includes Dean Lennox Kelly (Moving On, Married Single Other) as Frankie’s long term boyfriend Ian, and Derek Riddell (Five Days, Garrow’s Law), her confidant and team member Andy. The series also features Julia Ford (News Tricks, Shameless), Leila Mimmack (Inside Men, Seamonsters) and Carla Henry (New Street Law, Mysterious Creatures).

The series will air in Spring 2013 as part of the BBC Drama season.
