The Hour cancelled by BBC

News on the cancellation of The Hour by the BBC.
We covered The Hour during its most recent run, and did comment in the last review of series 2 that ratings were not great, and the dumping off of the final episodes in one week didn't bode well for its future.

Well, annoyingly we were right, as the BBC have today confirmed its cancellation. Digital Spy have the story, as well as the quote from an anonymous BBC spokesman: "We loved the show but have to make hard choices to bring new shows through."

It's a little disappointing if only because the second run didn't exactly have a note of finality, so it'd have been nice to see them get the chance to do a real ending like other recent BBC concluders Merlin and Being Human. Nonetheless, I can't really argue that the ratings were poor. C'est la vie. Hopefully we'll see the writers and actors soon elsewhere.
