Neil Marshall to direct Game of Thrones episode

Neil Marshall, best known for directing Irish horror The Descent, is to make his TV directorial debut with an episode of the upcoming Game of Thrones: Season 2. Marshall joins Alan Taylor, Alik Sakharov, David Petrarca and David Nutter who are all also scheduled to direct episodes of the ten-installment second season.

Based on George R. R. Martin's critically acclaimed book series, A Song of Ice and Fire, Game of Thrones is filmed in Ireland and is a corner stone of HBO's current programming. Neil Marshall has directed a number of well received horror films including Dog Soldiers and the previously mentioned pot-holing chiller The Descent.

Marshall's addition to the roster continues the US cable channel's attraction for big name directors - previously, Martin Scorsese, Mark Romanek and Alexander Payne have contributed their talent to some of the station's biggest shows.
