Russell T. Davies creates Aliens Vs Wizards for CBBC

CBBC announce new series Aliens Vs Wizards from Russell T. Davies and Phil Ford, former writers on Doctor Who and Sarah Jane Adventures.
Russsell T. Davies is to return to BBC children's TV with Aliens Vs Wizards, in which two 16 year old boys use magic and science to defend the Earth from attacking aliens.

Davies has teamed up with Phil Ford, former senior writer on Sarah Jane Adventures, to bring the new series to CBBC. It will be filmed at BBC Wales, which played host to Davies's well known work on Doctor Who and assorted spin-offs.

"Writing for children is the biggest challenge of all and I think CBBC stands right at the heart of broadcasting," said Davies, before moving on to tackle a more serious issue: "Wizards have never met aliens before, and when they do, the result is spectacular! The mysterious Nekross know exactly what to do with magicians: Eat them! Let battle be joined!"

Davies had moved to Hollywood after finishing on Doctor Who, where he worked on the most recent Torchwood series, along with other potential projects. He returned to the UK last year after his partner fell ill, this is his first confirmed work since then.

No cast details have yet been released for Aliens Vs Wizards, it is set to air in autumn 2012 on CBBC.
