With the recent casting of Finn Jones as series lead Danny Rand, more details are started to emerge about the fourth Marvel / Netflix show Iron Fist. Jessica Henwick, who joined Game Of Thrones season five as one of the Sand Snakes Nymeria, and also starred as an X-Wing pilot Jess Testor in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, will be playing the female lead Colleen Wing.
Colleen Wing is the daughter of a Chinese American New York City professor and a Japanese mother, skilled in martial arts. She becomes a close friend of Rand when he returns to New York City after years training in K'un-L'un.
On Henwick's casting, Iron Fist's showrunner Scott Buck had this to say
"I'm very excited to have Jessica as our Colleen Wing. She's shown us that she can bring both a sense of quiet strength as well as an engaging vulnerability to the character." - Netflix
Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television added:
"Jessica brings both a youthful vitality mixed with a strong sense of authority crucial to the character. And as anyone who's seen her in Game of Thrones can attest, she can throw down with the best of them, making her the perfect Colleen Wing." - Netflix
In Iron Fist, Daniel Rand returns to New York City after being missing for years. He fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.
Meanwhile, there is some news on the recently announced Jessica Jones season two, that like Iron Fist, is yet to receive a scheduled date. Raelle Tucker has been rumoured to serve as executive producer alongside the show's creator and showrunner Melissa Rosenberg. Tucker will be replacing departing executive producer Liz Friedman.
