At a two-day Netflix event in Paris, Daredevil star Charlie Cox was asked about a potential third season of his superhero show. While Cox couldn't give an answer on Daredevil season three, he did announce that his next appearance would be on The Defenders - and it could be sooner than you think.
"We don't know if there’s going to be a season three. I certainly don’t know. What we do know is at the end of this year we’re going to be making 'The Defenders' and, of course, Daredevil is very much a part of that foursome." - Netflix.
What this means for a third run of Daredevil, season two of Jessica Jones or the debut of Iron Fist remains to be seen. We certainly wouldn't see The Defenders in the March slot taken up by Daredevil; perhaps that might be taken by Iron Fist in 2017, with The Defenders appearing in the September slot taken up by Luke Cage?
And while Cox was able to announce that The Defenders would be in production by the end of 2016, he was unable to offer any more details about what audiences might see.
"I have no idea what the storyline is going to be for that show. I'm very excited to see how those worlds combine… and interested to see tonally how those shows become one." - Netflix.
The Defenders will unite the characters from all four Marvel / Netflix shows in one The Avengers-style TV team up.
In the meantime, the next series to debut will be Luke Cage season one on September 30th, with Mike Colter taking the lead after his debut in Jessica Jones season one last year.
