Hot on the heels that Ghost Rider will be appearing in the fourth season of Agents Of SHIELD (you can also read Sean Mason's thoughts on what that might mean for the show here), comes the annoucement that the show has cast a new director of SHIELD.

The season three finale flash-forwarded to Coulson being demoted back to field agent, while teasing a new director and now we have a face; Jason O'Mara (Terra Nova) has been cast as the new man in charge. The show's executive producer and Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb made the following statement...

"Bringing Jason into the mix as the New Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. forces everyone, particularly Coulson, to reevaluate their role in the Agency. Jason has both the physical presence and acting dynamics that will connect with and challenge even the most loyal agent." - Marvel
.

In other news, the return of Bobbi and Hunter to Agents Of SHIELD after the spin-off show Marvel's Agents Most Wanted was dropped by ABC may have been cast in doubt. Adrianne Palacki has joined the cast of Seth McFarlane's live-action sci-fi TV series for Fox. She will be playing the ex-wife of MacFarlane's character, and the newly appointed First Officer of the Orville, a not-so-top-of-the-line exploratory ship in Earth's interstellar fleet 300 years in the future.
