The CW recently picked up another DC superhero show Black Lightning for a pilot order, making it the latest addition to its ever-expanding superhero TV universe that began with Arrow back in 2012.
Following the recent casting announcement of Cress Williams in the title role of Jefferson Pierce, the first look at the latest supehero has been released.
Check out the full suit below...
The show's co-showrunner Sam Akil had this to say about the show and the updates from the original comic-book design.
"I was about 13 when Black Lightning was created, and finally there was a black superhero that gave a damn about our neighbourhood and our lives. Resurrecting him at a time in our society when a sense of hope is lacking... Black Lightning will be that hope. And in updating the suit, it will signal to a new generation that it's time to harness and release our power, and become our own superheroes."
There's no news yet on whether it will progress beyond the pilot order and how it will fit in with The CW's other superhero content. More news as we have it.
