It's been almost a year since we first heard rumblings about the latest TV adaptation of the beloved Robert Jordan fantasy series The Wheel Of Time. Now Variety has revealed that Sony Pictures Television is moving forward with the production.

Sony Pictures Television will produce The Wheel Of Time alongside Red Entertainment and Radar Pictures with Rafe Judkins (Agents of SHIELD,, Hemlock Grove and Chuck) attached to write and executive produce. Red Eagle partners Rick Selvage and Larry Mondragon will executive produce with Radarís Ted Field and Mike Weber. Darren Lemke will also serve as an executive producer, with Jordanís widow Harriet McDougal taking a role as consulting producer.

There are 14 books in the series, starting with The Eye of the World in 1990. The final three books were written by Brian Sanderson, using Jordan's extensive notes, following the author's death in 2007. Could this be the next Game Of Thrones?
