Doctor Who
Science fiction series Doctor Who was first broadcast in the UK in 1963. In the intervening half a century it has become a British icon - with unforgettable imagery and scary monsters in the form of the Daleks, Cybermen, Sontarans and more.
On extended hiatus since 1989, with a one-off TV movie starring Paul McGann in the nineties, the series returned as a staple of saturday night TV in 2005 when Russell T Davies brought Doctor Who bang up to date with a new Doctor played by Christopher Eccleston. The current showrunner is Steven Moffat and the leads are Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman.
